If you’ve been looking into losing weight or changing your lifestyle, then you’ve probably heard of the keto diet before. Its popularity has been steadily growing over the past few years and it was even one of the most searched diets on Google in 2018.
The keto diet offers some great benefits, which is why many people who try it rave about their success and find that going keto improves their lives and helps them to lose weight.
For those who have heard of it but don’t know anyone on the keto diet or haven’t tried it themselves, the first question is often:
ketogenic diet
What is the keto diet?
The keto diet sometimes called the ‘ketogenic diet’ focuses on sending your body into a state of ketosis.
What’s ketosis?
In a carbohydrate-rich diet, your body breaks down the carbohydrates into sugar which is circulated through your blood to give you energy. However, if you don’t have those carbs in your body to give you the energy you need, your body will start to change your stored fat into ketones for energy. Ketosis occurs when your body is using ketones (rather than sugar from carbs) for energy.
Instead of burning carbs for energy, you burn the fat in your body. You get to eat delicious, rich, nourishing food while burning fat in the process!
And that’s why the keto diet is so popular because it’s effective. You can lose weight on the keto diet.
It’s that simple.
But simple isn’t always easy, right? Real and lasting change always requires us to face some discomfort in order to grow.
It’s normal to avoid feelings of discomfort, but this mindset holds us back. Think of an emotion you try to avoid. Maybe it’s stress, embarrassment, or inadequacy.
If you weren’t afraid to feel that feeling, and instead knew it was just a wave of chemicals cascading through your body that didn’t actually mean anything about you as a person, what would you do that you aren’t doing right now?
Losing weight and changing your diet also involve feelings of discomfort. These changes require us to first accept the reality of who we are.
Often, we think acceptance means giving up on trying to change. We believe accepting ourselves, our bodies, or what is happening now will lead us to give up and not move forward.
But actually, when we accept ourselves, we can feel love and compassion instead of disgust and dissatisfaction. We show up totally differently for ourselves. We treat ourselves differently. We make different choices.
I know the frustration and challenges that come with trying to lose weight because I have been there. But I was able to change my lifestyle by changing my mindset, and I lost 80 lbs. in the process! By not just changing what I eat, but WHY.
Now, I help other women like me get to the root of the issue and find their own realistic, permanent weight loss success.
And I can help you.
I am a certified life and weight coach, and because I personally also love the keto diet, I am trained as a keto coach.
Not only can I work with you to set and achieve your weight goals, but I can specifically guide you on your keto journey.
Healthy Eating
What does the keto diet involve?
The idea behind the keto diet is to minimize (or eliminate) carbohydrates in your diet and instead focus on eating healthy fats and protein, This means lots of seeds, nuts, dairy, eggs, berries, non-starchy vegetables such as broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, leafy greens and fats and oils like butter or olive oil.
To follow the keto diet you restrict/eliminate your intake of carbohydrate-rich foods such as potatoes, beans and legumes, sugary foods, alcohol, and most fruit.
One reason some people are afraid to try the keto diet is that they worry they’ll struggle with the changes to their diet. Maybe there are certain comfort foods they’re afraid they’ll have to give up. Maybe it’s that they’re worried about how to change their habits of food preparation. Or maybe it’s anxiety around trying something new.
I get it! Change is challenging!
But you’re only worried because you currently have a desire for carb-rich foods. Once you become fat adapted and burn body fat for fuel, your desire for carbohydrates subsides. Hundreds of thousands of other people around the world have switched to the keto diet and love it. Restaurants and caffees are increasingly offering keto options, and there are millions of delicious keto-adapted recipes available so you don’t have to miss out on a thing.
The hardest part is sometimes just getting started, and as a certified keto coach who has been in your shoes, I have the expertise to coach you through that process.
Is keto coaching right for me?
As with any significant change to your lifestyle or diet, it is important to know you’re making the right choice for yourself. Most people do well on the keto diet, but it is important to first check with your doctor to make sure you don’t have special health or dietary needs that might conflict with the ketogenic lifestyle.
Once you’ve got the green light from your doctor, coaching is the best way to get started. If you wanted to get really good at playing a musical instrument you’d never picked up before, you’d look for a teacher. Someone to relate to you, guide you, and help you excel. The same principle applies to keto coaching!
If you are all-in, ready to show up for yourself and commit to making a positive change in your life through keto, then keto coaching could be right for you. No more feeling ashamed of yourself and no more “yo-yo” dieting.

Improve your health
What are the benefits of the keto diet?
On top of being an efficient way to lose weight, there are several other benefits to the keto diet.
- The energy that your brain cells get from the ketones is actually processed more efficiently and is better for brain function than sugars from carbohydrates. People who switch to the ketogenic diet often report being able to think more clearly.
- You feel more satisfied with less food and generally also (struggling with snacking too much? This can help!).
- Studies have shown the diet can lower your blood pressure.
- It reduces blood sugar levels.
- Improved heart health (i.e. decrease in triglycerides and overall cholesterol, and an increase in HDL).
- Overall more energy and a sense of improved wellbeing.

What are the benefits of having a keto diet coach?
Just a few of the great benefits that I can offer my clients as a certified ketogenic diet coach include:
- Confidence that you have the best nutrition coaching
- Personalized advice on embracing a keto lifestyle
- Support in using the keto diet for weight loss and building a keto fitness plan
- Suggestions for keto-adapted recipes and keto meal plan coaching
- Week by week training to build up to a manageable keto-adapted lifestyle
What sets me apart from other keto trainers is that I take a holistic approach to my keto coaching. My philosophy as a certified life and weight coach is that when it comes to losing weight, changing your weight loss mindset is essential.
Yes, we have to change what we eat. But if we want to make weight loss a permanent change, we also have to understand why we eat.
I don’t just give you a list of foods to eat and say “good luck!” (we all know how unhelpful that is!).
Instead, I work with you to recognize what factors are affecting your life and food habits. I help you to then change your mindset to enable you to make the changes you need to reach your goal weight and live the life you want for yourself.
